Video Game Delays in 2016: Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2020?

Video Games get delayed every single year but with Kingdom Hearts 3 being pushed back because Square Enix is choosing to re-tool the engine that runs both Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and the latest Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy XV, it’s starting to get ridiculous.

Rumors are popping up that the long-awaited game won’t reach gamers until year 2020.

How To Be Super Confident – A Motivational Video for Shy People

If you are shy but would like to also be super confident, this motivational video on how to be confident will help you!

How To Be Super Confident Around People

Let’s be real, having confidence is one of those things that people claim is easy but can be quite terrifying. Some people have extreme social anxiety and others just don’t like socializing. The key to unlocking your ability to be confident around people is trial and error. The more you do it, the less you fear rejection and the better you become.

Getting over the initial fear is also difficult but once you realize that socializing, even awkwardly, won’t kill you, it gets easier. It’s also great to note that most people, believe it or not, want to see you succeed. This becomes more apparent once you get out of high school so if this is you, be patient. (Also if you are in High School and think it sucks…you are not alone.)

Build Your Confidence

At the end of the day only you can save you from low self-confidence. You have to believe in yourself, arm yourself with tools that will make you more interesting, charming or any other self affirming adjective and you will be well on your way to a better you!

Hugh Jackman Looks Older Story is Stupid

There’s a trending story about Hugh Jackman, the actor that has played Wolverine in the X-Men movies and the upcoming Old Man Logan movie aka Wolverine 3, looking drastically older than he did a few months ago and I want to talk about how stupid this all is.

The Picture in Question:
hugh jackman old

Does Hugh Jackman Look Old?

First of all the picture is grainy, shot in a poorly lit room and we have no idea what condition he’s in. Was he sleep deprived? Was he hung over? Were shadows cast in just the right places to make him look older? We just don’t know! But for people to turn this into a story is just ridiculous.

old man chris sanders

I’m in my early 30’s and if you watch my YouTube videos there are random frames were I look like i’m in my late 40’s due to a number of factors…but if you look at a video a few days later I look young again.

od man logan

He’s just an Old Man Logan

Everyone needs to lay off Jack and just accept that we are all human and people don’t age in a matter of days. There is some speculation that he’s wearing make-up for his Old Man Logan movie role, frankly if that’s the answer then i’m kind of disappointed because he’s missing the signature scar-like forehead wrinkles that Logan sports in his later years.

Ignore the Bad Suicide Squad Reviews

Bad Suicide Squad Reviews

Let’s talk about Suicide Squad, the 2016 superhero action film that critics love to hate. I’ll cut to the chase and tell you that I saw this movie two days ago and I can’t recommend it more. The bad Suicide Squad reviews are nothing more than so-called film experts forgetting the core ingredient of what makes a film successful, a three-letter word we seem so afraid of in this day and age, FUN. The movie isn’t great but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

That’s right Suicide Squad is not an amazing movie but it is a fun piece of cinema that excites and titillates. The performances are spot on, the action is jaw dropping and the execution of most of the crucial elements is nothing short of amazing. Where the film falters is the same for almost every summer action flick.  The usual suspects here are story pacing and character juggling. The film has too much story and too many characters. It knows where it wants to focus and does a good job in that view-point but some characters suffer as a result.

El Diablo From Sucide Squad Movie

Why Suicide Squad Is Not a Bad Movie

For instance the movie does a great job of fleshing out El Diablo, the only truly impressive meta-human of the group. He has a tragic back story that stays mostly faithful to the comic. His arc is handled quite well and the movie would be better if they did that with every character. The place where the movie totally drops the ball is the main villain. I don’t want to spoil the movie for you but her treatment is certainly a low point. Also the CGI is absolutely terrible and hard to watch. It reminds me of 2015’s Fantastic Four in terms of a big budget movie having low budget special effects.

Despite these flaws, I still feel like the movie gets a lot right and thus does not deserve the treatment it is getting in the press. Every time I read about how much of a mess this movie is, I’m reminded that FAR worse movies (all of the Michael Bay Transformer films) exist. I am reminded of the awesome chemistry between the cast and the the smile that appeared on my face as I gleefully jumped up in my seat each time Will Smith was on the screen.

Every one is entitled to opinions and it’s important to consider going into every movie with an open mind. It’s also important to note that movie reviewers look for different things than the rest of us do. They look for cinematography, direction, lighting and a lot of important elements of film making that can bring a perfectly good movie’s score down.

For me, I just want something fun that gets my favorite comic characters right and tells an entertaining story in a fashion that I can follow.  In my humble opinion Suicide Squad accomplished that in spades.

Pokemon Go is a Pokemon Scam Following Update

Why Pokemon Go is a Scam

Pokemon Go recently decided to release an update to the mobile game in which it removed some broken features, updated others and improved the UI slightly. All in all it was your standard update until you start playing and realize that it’s now become significantly harder to play. Before the update I noticed that the higher I rose in rank, the more Pokemon would escape from balls, which made sense because I was encountering more challenging monsters with Combat Power in the triple digits.

Pokemon
Where it became problematic was when the same thing was happening with Pokemon at level 10 and 60. Technically speaking as I get stronger, these weaker Pokemon should not be a challenge but they are, and after this update they are even harder resulting in the need to buy more Pokeballs in order to be prepared for a rare Pokemon that might pop up. In addition to all of this, as you grow in rank free Pokeballs that you get from Pokestops populate WAY less often. Coincidence? Don’t make me laugh.

Watch the video version of this article:

How to Fix Pokemon Go on the next Update

You have to commend the programmers for both being smart and dumb at the same time. It’s genius to get us to spend money this way but also dumb because they have so many ways to get us to take out our wallets that won’t insight nerd rage. It makes more sense to me that STRONG Pokemon would escape, not Pokemon at levels I used to catch casually. How about making the rare Pokemon more challenging or just have more rare Pokemon pop up more regularly giving us something waste balls on that not only makes sense but fulfills the need to “catch them all”. There are almost 1,000 Pokemon at this point, you have no real excuses.

Making low level Pokemon stronger is not the way to repay the people that made this game a hit.

Pokemon Go US Review: Bugs, Errors & Still Fun!

Finally Catching Pokemon Go in America!

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 4.43.42 PMScreen Shot 2016-07-07 at 4.44.02 PM

Pokemon Go is finally in the United States and as games login for the first time everyone is wondering will the game meet expectations set by the commercial that introduced us to the concept of capturing Pokemon IRL? Of course not. Anyone expecting this game to play anything like that commercial can be considered quite delusional. As with any game dependent on servers and mobile connections there are quite a few bugs and errors that plague this game.

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 4.44.13 PM

For instance I had one hell of a time trying to sign up for my chosen name, I wasn’t able to get it to work until I reset my phone and tried again. Initially when I first attempted to sign into the game I repeatedly got the same error and decided to just put my phone down and come back to it later. After the 15th try I got in the game and caught my first Pokemon, Charmander.

Pokemon Go Review Advice: Walk the City

After walking around my city, I managed to catch about 3 Pokemon and almost wasted all my balls on the Ratticate pictured below.

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 4.42.55 PM

I’m pretty sure the people who were standing near me thought I was trying to take pictures of them but you gotta do what you gotta do if you want to be the best.

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 4.43.52 PM

I also missed out on catching a Rattatat because of an error that caused my Pokeball the freeze after landing a successful capture. I came across a few Pokestops that never loaded and told me to try again but this was mostly a problem I experienced while out in the suburbs, where I work. When I’m home in the big city the game works just fine.

I still haven’t had my first gym battle but I’ll update this post when I do. Until then this Pokemon Go review is incomplete and cannot be trusted.

What’s your experience with Pokemon Go been like?

L is Black in the Netflix Death Note Life Action Movie

Netflix Death Note Live Action Movie Cast?

Recently the cast list was announced for the netflix produced Death Note live action movie and many fans were shocked to find that everyones favorite character L is being portrayed by a black man, Keith Stanfield. Some fans remained optimistic while others completely flew off the rails stating that in adaptations the character should look just like the character they are based on, which is anything but true. Adaptations always make departures, the goal is to ensure that departure does not harm the integrity of the film.

death note l

Will the Netflix Black L Be a Better L?

L is known to be the smartest man in the world and fact is, there’s no way they will make L a stereotypical black male or dumb down the character in anyway. Will he be the L we all know and love? Time will tell, but my eyes based on the actors chops as Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton we have nothing to worry about.

Plus if you’re worried that much, the anime and Japanese live actions, which also did correctly cast the characters ethnicity is still here for your enjoyment. But that’s my opinion, what do you guys think of the news? Should L always be pale? Sorry for the rhyme haha!

Proof YouTube is NOT Going to Fix The YouTube Glitch [2016]

As many of you know, I am a YouTuber. This distinction means that I make YouTube videos, in particular I make about 3 videos every single week. I have posted consistently for 4 years and at first I expected this to be my career. Now, That will never happen.

Watch my Video on This Post:

How To Succeed on YouTube and Immediately Fail

3 years ago I was riding high on the wave of having my videos debut on not only my favorite websites like Kotaku but also huge multimedia platforms like CNN and Forbes, needless to say I pretty much had this YouTube thing in the bag. I even won a national contest in 2013 where YouTube gave me $5,000 worth of equipment and educational courses.  You might be saying to yourself, “That sounds awesome!”  or “Ok, so what went wrong?”…The answer is YouTube went wrong.

Better people than me can complain about the YouTube algorithm and how it killed a lot of career’s in 2012 when they jumped to what was then known as “Cosmic Panda”. Instead of the system favoring videos with similar data, it favored videos based on general viewing habits and other unknown identifiers. Personally, this change destroyed my momentum and cut my views in half. I was angry but since it was happening to everyone I had no choice but to adapt. I made major changes on my channel and did everything they said to do, I cultivated playlists, I posted my videos on blogs, I chased trending topics but It didn’t work to restore me to the days when I was able to make a video about pooping and be guaranteed a couple thousand views.

My subscriptions grew regularly but my views stayed the same. At some points the views were dropping and rising at random. I was confused as to what I was doing wrong and made a video about the issues I was having. That video did pretty well and a few smaller and larger YouTubers gave me some advice on surviving in this new unfair environment. The solution? CLICKBAIT.

clickbait thumbnail

THIS IS A CLICKBAIT TITLE: Clickbait Fixes Everything

I resisted this because in my mind clickbait was a dirty word and even dirtier tactic. Essentially it’s tricking people into clicking by using; deceit, mystery, illusions, over hype and really anything to get people to pay attention. However despite my feelings on the matter, I was curious so I tried it and it worked!  My views were on the up per average video with the exception of Live Streams, which are typically draw in a smaller but more dedicated audience. I was pretty happy with this but didn’t want to sacrifice my integrity so I used the tactic sparingly. Utilizing this and community sharing I was able to get a few videos to reach over 10,000 views with my base audience always kicking things off with a solid 1,000 views within the first day of the upload but that all came to a stop when my channel started getting hit with the YouTube glitch.

The YouTube Glitch Comes to Town

I remember it like it was yesterday. I uploaded a video about the Dr Strange 2016 movie trailer, a video topic that if timed right would usually get me about 10,000 plus views and usually 100 views after about 20 minutes. As a practice I make a point to reply to every comment that comes in within the first 2 hours so I walked away for about 30 minutes to breathe and when I came back ready to reply, just like I had been doing for the past few years, I was shocked to see that not only did the video have no comments but it also barely had 40 views. WTF? I reloaded the page a few times but what I was seeing was real.  I decided to re-upload the video and got the same results.  I thought maybe it’s just the topic is over saturated so I chilled and put out another video, this time on a much less crowded topic but the same thing happened. It was very evident that I had a problem.  I decided to look at my analytics and noticed something else that was quite peculiar.
bsC8Wkc
On top of this random loss of video delivery, I was also bleeding subscribers. I had loss about 40 that day and didn’t understand why because barley anyone got the last two videos and I hadn’t uploaded anything at all that day because of the strange behavior of my last two uploads.  I chose to reach out to YouTube for help since they had just provided me with a support rep. She said she didn’t see anything wrong with my channel but would forward the issue to technical support. Later that night I decided to upload another video and success! I got a couple thousand views and the comments were back too.  I was pretty satisfied and continued my uploading schedule.

On the front end things looked great but behind the scenes every single month that I was uploading videos I was losing more and more subscribers seemingly out of nowhere. In one month I lost 600 people with me losing the most people on days I hadn’t uploaded. None of my videos were getting high numbers of hate or dislikes and I was playing it pretty safe as far as topics go. Analytics data did not point to it being “dead/inactive accounts” and the numbers happening in such large quantities without being related to a particular upload date that I once again knew something was wrong. I contacted YouTube and was told a few things but overall the point was that I was informed that I was experiencing a glitch on my account. The YouTube glitch was taking my hard-earned subscribers each month at high numbers and naturally this resulted in lower average views and revenue across my videos. YouTube’s over arching reply? “We’re Working On It!”

youtube logo

Will YouTube Actually Fix the YouTube Glitch in 2016?

Fast forward to the past 2 weeks and that issue where my videos don’t hit their usual numbers returned and then went away. I’m working to rebuild my daily average on my videos back to somewhere around 1,000 views and YouTube was hit with yet another glitch but this time it wasn’t just me. The bug took about 1,000 subscribers from me and close to 1 million for larger channels. YouTube claims they have addressed the bug and that the YouTube glitch is solved but in my experience it ‘s only a matter of time until comes back and just as likely that YouTube isn’t going to do anything to solve the problem.

It sucks to put all this hard work into something and seeing it destroyed by pure happenstance and the company that is responsible for it all continues to just provide canned responses and false promises. YouTube used to look a like opportunity to me and now it reminds of failure, lies and broken promises.

YouTube Removed my video so here’s Screen Shots

How Sega Can Really Make Sonic The Hedgehog an “Entertainment Icon”

I read a story yesterday about Sega wanting to make Sonic an entertainment icon and my first thought was immediately, HOW? Just how are you going to make sonic a master across multimedia when you can’t even seem to get his core mechanics and current dominate platform in video games right?

Watch My Video on this Story:

Sonic Cartoons and Other Media

I’m not saying all of this put down Sega for its ambition, but honestly they need to get their priorities straight. Before you do anything you need to get the games right. Sonic has had some lofty hits in the past like the original Sonic games on Sega Genesis and my personal favorite, the Sonic Adventure series but following that Sonic games have all been pretty mediocre or just plain unplayable (Shoutout to Sonic 06!). Outside of gaming Sonic had some hits on TV with a couple of awesome TV series and one very very bad one that I will not even mention by name because doing so gives it power. The best of these in my opinion is Sonic SATam. It featured a stellar plot and managed to make Dr Robotnik scary and at times relatable. Point is, there have been times that Sega has gotten Sonic right.

sonic-boom

The Sonic Boom Generation

Recently Sonic got a refresh with a brand new TV show and game called Sonic Boom and both are very mediocre. They gave sonic a neck bandana, some bandages and absolutely no soul. The show and the game both feel unfinished and lacking. If this is how you plan on making Sonic an icon, you’ve got a lot of work to do. I read a quote in the article that said the producers of the new games are making an emphasis on quality for Sonic from now on and my thought is, Shouldn’t that have always been the case? Gamers have been complaining about Sonic properties for years, why are you just now making sure the vehicle that got him started is handled right?  A lot of fans have written Sonic off and just look at him about as fondly as they do Bubsy and that’s a shame because Sonic really does deserve to be an icon.

mario 64

How Sonic the Hedgehog Can Become an Icon: Be Like Mario

So how can Sega achieve their goal to get Sonic superstar status? It’s easy. MAKE GREAT GAMES. FOCUS ON THE GAMES FIRST AND THE REST WILL FOLLOW. Super Mario had a terrible movie, a pair of bad run of the mill cartoons and yet his star shines brighter than ever. Even if you don’t play video games you know and love Super Mario.  Nintendo achieved this by making a quality foundation for their character. 90% of the games that feature Mario are amazing, challenging, fun and work to cement his status in our hearts and minds. Sonic can follow this formula and he too will finally get the respect we know he deserves.

Good luck Sega!  I’m rooting for you.

Voice Acting in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Confirmed ? – Opinion [UPDATED]

Zelda Breath of the Wild Voice Acting?

Watching Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild debut at E3 2016 was almost a spiritual experience but nothing made me more excited while watching this game in motion than hearing a real human voice speak to Link. It wasn’t the usual sound effects Nintendo is infamous for but a real (possibly) human voice saying complete sentences.

The beauty of the scene gave me chills but it also gave me a sense that Nintendo is learning. Nintendo seems to be finally listening to us and giving us a Zelda game on scale with others such as Gears of War. That may be wishful thinking but frankly let me dream. Nintendo does a great job of setting themselves apart and I’d like to see them on par with the rest of the class. But I’m getting off topic.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Voice Acting
Zelda Breath of Wild the Will Feature  Voice Acting

Will Link have a voice?

The one disappointing thing is that Link himself did not talk, nor did any of the villagers he encountered but the voice over we hear throughout the game still gives me hope. The fact that this voice also called Link by name, saying to me that he’s no longer a proxy for the gamer but rather his own man, which gives us a whole new way to think about how we will be playing this game and if it possibly changes the world of Zelda (Hyrule) forever.

[Update] 6/23/2016

According to an article on Polygon released today, not only is voice acting confirmed for this game but according to one of the games producers, Link is confirmed to be remaining mute!

“It’s really difficult to leave an impression on players with just text,” Breath of the Wild producer Eiji Aonuma told Polygon. “It’s not that I made everything voiced. But I have these moments where I want to leave impressions on users. I add voice there.”

Aonuma recalled a moment early in the new game’s development where he first heard a character with “actual human voice.” According to the long-time Zelda developer, that moment “touched [his] heart” and “was really striking emotions.”

However, Aonuma reiterated that the series’ protagonist, Link, will be remaining voiceless for the foreseeable future.

That’s some excited news and frankly I know I’m in the minority but I do wish Link had a voice. Voice acting in Zelda Breath of the Wild would only bring it a new level and in my opinion if done right improve the franchise.  If new games can get this right there’s no reason Nintendo and and the Legend of Zelda franchise can’t.
