Learn How To Reduce Stress & Anxiety by Watching Dragon Ball

Life can be pretty stressful for us humans, unless of course you happen to be an American 5-year-old child raised by boring mildly successful white people. If that’s you, I’m really impressed that you’re reading at this age. Your parents should probably put you on a show hosted by Steve Harvey. Anyway, unlike you Miss or Mister 5-year-old the rest of us have bills, relationships, jobs and squad goals that can lead to anxiety and as such I decided to help.

Tips to Reduce Stress and Anxiety for Saiyans

I wanted to highlight stress and anxiety tips as they relate to not only humans but anime characters as well because I am a somewhat pathetic man-child. Just kidding, I’m not pathetic but rather I A creative master mind that you should donate money to. Plus, I thought it would be more fun to interweave narratives to something surrounding a nerdy niche vs just telling you how to live your life-like some unemployed life coach. The model in this motivational video is Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super.  He’s a vertically challenged, envious, angry man obsessed with being the best and constantly falls short of that goal. The twist is he is also an alien and was born with a monkey tail. If you know Dragon Ball then you know that’s not the real twist but instead rather the twist is despite all of Vegeta’s short comings he actually has an extremely great life but is too busy being stressed out to take notice.

How Stress and Goku Defeated Happy Vegeta

Before I dig into what makes Vegeta’s life great let me explain who he was BEFORE he came to earth and before he met Goku, the hero of earth that is the source of most of Vegeta’s rage. If you dial back time, when Vegeta was first introduced he was an evil space villain that smirked all the time, laughed at his own jokes and had no qualms about destroying entire planets. He loved what he did for a living AND you could tell by the expression on his face.  Needless to say aside from the forced slavery, he loved his life…AND THEN HE MET GOKU.

Shortly after meeting Goku, Vegeta all of a sudden became extremely petty and angry. He lost his smirk and rarely did anything that wasn’t yelling or proclaiming his distaste for anything that wasn’t blue spandex. You see, Goku despite not being an elite warrior was stronger than Vegeta and old Veg-Head couldn’t take playing second fiddle. He lost much of his original personality and enjoyment of life. He no longer laughed and is not characterized by his trademark scowl. He may no longer be evil, but it could be argued that he’s also no longer happy because of the way he has let the pressure, stress and anxiety affect his life.

This has happened to such a degree that even though Vegeta now currently has a healthy adoring child, a hot wife, a billion dollar corporation and unlimited financial resources, he’s still walking around with clenched butt cheeks because he can’t let go of the idea of being lesser than Goku.  He never took any steps to de-stress or focus on the achievements he has made since landing on this planet. The guy has a cush life and probably doesn’t even realize it. The guy could be enjoying his life over 9,000 times more if he just stopped and smelled the roses.

Reduce Stress Now

I get it though. Not all stress is things we can just stop focusing on but I implore you to do any and everything you can gain control of your situation. If you can’t do that, try to focus on the other things in your life so the stress doesn’t overwhelm you.

The power of you is extremely real and I want to empower you to win in the fight of you vs anxiety and stress.  Watch today’s video for all the helpful tips and let me know of any successful ways you stop yourself from being like Vegeta with the good hair.

Is Dragon Ball Super a Good Anime, Yet? – Anime Review

TL;DR?: Watch the Video Version

When Dragon Ball Super was announced I was beyond hyped. Having grown up with both Dragon Ball and DBZ I had HUGE expectations. Coming hot of the heels of a second theatrical movie release Dragon Ball Super started some what with a lackluster bang. The first set of episodes featured beautiful animation, a killer theme song and no fighting. Instead we got to find out what our heroes had been up to since the Buu saga and aside from a few laughs it was kind of boring. I was annoyed but I gave the series the benefit of the doubt. They are world building…we have to let them build a setting to get everyone back in the fight, but turns out all that building was just leading us into retreading the last 2 movies with a few minor changes. Having already seen the movies I was pretty bored watching these episodes as well. Leading me to ask, is Dragon Ball Super a Good Anime?

Giving up on Dragon Ball Super?

I was thinking about giving up on the show because frankly, while it looks good, it’s kind of awkward most of the time. It also spends a lot more time focusing on an off kilter humor that Dragon Ball Z wasn’t known for. On top of that it spent a strange amount of time on character development for characters that didn’t have any before, like Goku. I mean character development is good but it just feels weird to be doing it so late in the game. Dragon Ball (the original) did a great job with this but by the time the show became Dragon Ball Z much of that was thrown out the window.

dragon ball super season 1

Needless to say, Dragon Ball Super wasn’t the show I expected. Still, I held out hope because someone had leaked info about the next arc and it wasn’t something I already saw and it apparently featured fighting. I dug in and while the show still retained the weird pace, the odd humor and the development it was starting to feel exciting. It was starting to feel like something I wanted to watch vs something I was obligated to watch. Each week, as the fights continued i grew more and more invested until the show hit a fourth arc that is easily one of the best things I’ve seen in years and it’s still happening?

VERDICT: Is Dragon Ball Super a Good Anime?

So as a whole is DBS a great show? NO WAY. But is it finally gaining ground? Yeah and it’s about time. With Black Goku, Future Trunks, Fights and a growing Dragon Ball Universe that allows for Goku to be beaten I have to say I’m starting to really get into this show. If you’re going to watch this show, enjoy with a grain of salt and maybe skip over the first two arcs and watch the movies, then skip over the first 3 episodes of the next arc and you’ll be in a good place to enjoy a series that’s finally figured out what it’s audience wanted all along. What do you guys think of Dragon Ball Super? Is good, is it bad or am I just over thinking things?
